Hosted at the breathtaking Peter Michael Winery in Calistoga, California, the Salon offered a powerful setting for imagination and co-creation. Surrounded by vineyards and mountain air, the location served as a living metaphor for the work ahead: like cultivating great wine, growing an interdisciplinary field takes time, intention, and the right conditions. Together, participants dove deep into the Intentional Spaces Roadmap, a collaborative framework advancing the role of design in human health, wellbeing, and belonging.
The conversations were focused on alignment, activation, and co-design. Throughout the day, we worked together to:
- Shape the future of intentional design
- Use the Roadmap to build a collective strategy with global relevance and reach
- Ground the work in both scientific evidence and lived experience
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and implementation
- Explore what momentum may look like beyond our present day
The insights shared were nothing short of phenomenal. From big-picture strategies to grounded, real-world applications, participants helped surface key opportunities to accelerate adoption of intentional design practices across sectors. Conversations touched on everything from neuroscience and aesthetics to equity, policy, and implementation.
We are deeply grateful to our hosts at Peter Michael Winery for sponsoring this gathering and to the Pedersen Foundation for their unwavering support of the Intentional Spaces initiative. This convening marked an important milestone, bringing diverse expertise into alignment and setting the stage for bold next steps in the evolution of intentional design.
